Well its been a while since we have written a website article and lots have things have changed. But the one thing that hasn’t is the warm welcome and good service you will receive at Glamorgan Motors.
We are coming into the Winter months so don’t forget to pop down and get your car checked in readiness.
I know where have we been. It has been an extremely busy summer and we have not found as much time as we would like to update our website.
That said we recognise that Winter is coming and therefore we have decided to offer WINTER CHECKS. We think that a Winter check is vital as plummeting temperatures and poor weather means the likelihood of breaking down is significantly increased without checks being undertaken.
Our winter check includes:
AntiFreeze - check and top-up (maximum 0.5 Litre)
Brakes - visual check, no wheels will be removed
Lights - visual check, bulbs are extra if required
Oil - check, top-up is extra
Tyres - visual check, no wheels removed
Washers - check and top-up
Water - check and top-up
Why do we check these:
Antifreeze prevents the water in your car engine from freezing in cold weather, making it critical for maintaining a well running engine and preventing breakdowns and failures. It also helps to stop corrosion and scale build-up all year round.
Brakes allow you to control the speed and stop your car.
Driving with broken or faulty lights is illegal - and dangerous!
Believe it or not, your car needs oil just as much as it needs petrol. Too much or too little can cause serious damage.
Tyre pressure can drop significantly in cold weather. Tyres that were at the right pressure or a little low during the summer can become dangerously underinflated in the winter. This can reduce your cars fuel consumption and increase tyre wear as well as resulting in poor or dangerous handling.
In wet weather, tyre tread grooves help to remove water between your tyres and the road surface so that your car can brake, steer and accelerate properly. Ensuring your tyres have adequate tread depth helps your car to perform properly in wet conditions.
When you're driving in bad weather, the last thing you want to worry about is poor visibility, therefore loads of screen wash are vital.

For the last couple of weeks we have been wondering if we are on the set of Men from Mars and if Gene Hunt is going to rock up. A customer has brought in a Capri for us to restore back to new.
It has brought back memories for customers - it was their first car, took them on their first date and made them feel great when driving it.
It has also brought back memories for Derm (the fitter) as he has not worked on a Capri for over 20 years!
I am liking it in the garage more and more every week. This week the boys in the workshop did a fantastic job for one of our customers. After which the customer said thanks boys what can I get you for such a great job - they said nothing. He then said well do you have a wife, to which Matt replied yes - he said well that’s settled I get her something.
So this evening I am sat as the desk and in the customer walks with a pot plant for me! I have no idea what it is, but I know the colours are lovely. I will certainly be on the phone to my mum tonight describing what it looks like and getting tips on how to look after it.
